Can I pay a different EPF rate?
Normal Rates
Employees who wish to contribute at the normal rates (11% or 5.5%) must submit KWSP 17A (Khas 2016) - this is normally done by the employer. This form can be submitted to any EPF counter or can be mailed to the EPF.
Higher Rates
Employees who wish to contribute at rates higher than the norm have to submit/resubmit forms KWSP 17A (AHL) (for a single employee) or KWSP 17AA (AHL) (for several employees) - this is normally done by the employer. These forms can be submitted to any EPF counter or can be mailed to the EPF.
Irreversibility
Once the forms are submitted, the employee cannot reduce his EPF rates unless he changes employers.
Change of Employer
If an employee changes employer he/she must resubmit the relevant form or their rate of contribution will be automatically reduced.
Deadline
These forms can be submitted up until the 30th of Nov 2017. Once the form is submitted, the revised rate will take effect in the following month, e.g. if submitted in September, the new rate will be considered for the October contribution.
